Boating in Pagosa Country
The Pagosa Springs area is home to many rivers, lakes and reservoirs that provide boating options from kayaking, whitewater rafting, floating, canoeing to motorized boating and jetskiing.
For whitewater enthusiasts, the San Juan River flows right through downtown Pagosa, providing a variety of activities throughout the summer. During May and June the river is flowing with snowmelt, providing excellent whitewater fun. The wave in front of the Visitor Center provides a great "hole" for kayakers to enjoy. As the summer continues, temperatures warm, the water levels taper off and the San Juan River becomes a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing float trip. Find guided whitewater trips, float tubes and other equipment rentals.
If solitude is your goal, venture out with a canoe or kayak to Williams Creek Reservoir, Big Meadows Reservoir or Echo Reservoir. Enjoy quiet, peaceful surroundings with wonderful views from each.
Navajo State Park, located 30 miles from Pagosa Springs, is Colorado's answer to Lake Powell, with 15,000 acres of water surface that extends 20 miles into New Mexico. Boating and jetskiing options are endless, with boat rentals available and many coves to explore. Click here to view the Navajo State Park Marina Brochure.
