Night Sky: Stars & Galaxies

(June 8, July 13, August 10, September 7)

This program is timed for when the moon is absent from the sky; we can enjoy the night sky in a truly dark-sky environment and see fainter objects that the moon's light would normally obscure.

Night Sky: Our Solar System

(May 18, June 22, July 20, August 17, September 14)

This program is timed for when the moon is present in the sky but not fully illuminated; we can enjoy the night sky unimpeded by artificial lighting or the brightness of a full moon, and see many of the brighter objects that are visible. The moon is especially enjoyable to view through a telescope because features near the terminator (the boundary between the lit and unlit portions of the moon) stand out in particularly high contrast and are easy to discern.
