Andrew Lippa's Wild Party is based on Joseph Moncure March's 1928 narrative poem of the same name, this darkly brilliant show features one of the most exciting, pulse-racing scores ever written. It's the roaring 1920s and the beautiful, young Queenie, although she tries, cannot find a lover able to satisfy her desires – until she meets Burrs, a vaudevillian clown with a voracious appetite for women. Lovers Queenie and Burrs decide to throw the party-to-end-all-parties in their Manhattan apartment. After the colorful arrival of a slew of guests living life on the edge, Queenie's wandering eyes land on a striking man. As the decadence is reaching a climax, so is Burrs' jealousy. ARCHULETA COUNTY DEMOCRATIC FUNDRAISER & SCREENING OF SELMA @ Liberty Theatre
On Jan. 19, the Archuleta County Democrats will observe Martin Luther King Day with a special matinee presentation of the film Selma, a 2015 Best Picture nominee. The film recounts events of 1965, when a city in Alabama became a key battleground in the Civil Rights Movement. The struggle culminated with the historic march from Selma to Montgomery. Doors open at 1 p.m. The program begins at 2pm. $25. Proceeds benefit the Archuleta County Democratic Party.

Members and non-members welcome for these free events under the rising moon. Bring a headlamp or flashlight for back-up but be ready to turn the lights out and enjoy this fun and unique experience! At least beginner Classic cross country skiing experience required. There will be a short hill or two, but skiers are welcome to walk on the side of the groomed trail.
