Welcoming family-friendly event sponsored by Southwest Organization for Sustainability. 9am-3pm. Activities for everyone, young and old and in between. Opening Ceremony with drumming, yoga, Dust2 Critical Mass Bike Ride, Wetland Tour with the Riverwalk Naturalist Program, Community Tea Gathering, solar car races and kite flying. Join our bamboo fly rod building class in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and handcraft your own heirloom rod in six unforgettable days. Under the guidance of master rodsmith PJ Dufour, you'll build a custom two-piece, one-tip bamboo fly rod from premium Tonkin bamboo, customizing the grip, reel seat, and agate stripping guide. You'll leave with a fully functional fly rod, custom rod tube, hemp sock, and shop apron. May 19-24, 2026.

Again this year, SJMA in conjunction with the US Forest Service, Pagosa and Bayfield Ranger Districts, is hosting educational geology hikes, free for the public, from May through October. These interpretive hikes are led and presented by geologists Dave Bouquet and Scott McAllisters. Meet at 9am at Coyote Hill Trailhead. Registration required.
