A Tour of Two Trails @ Chimney Rock National Monument
A Tour of Two Trails provides an in-depth discussion along the Great House Trail about the connection of Chimney Rock to the greater Chacon culture, the significance of the mesa-top Great House, and the day-to-day lives of the ancestral inhabitants of Chimney Rock. 5pm. Cost: $10 Kids / $20 Adults.

Geology Hike: Marine Fossils at 8000 ft? @ Coyote Hill Loop Trail
SJMA in conjunction with the US Forest Service, Pagosa and Bayfield Ranger Districts, is hosting educational geology hikes, free for the public, from May through October. Walk through Ponderous Pine meadows to a beautiful overlook of Pagosa Peak. During this hike, we'll go off trail and climb to some ridge-forming limestone outcrops in the Mancos formation that contain marine fossils and numerous calcite crystals. 9am-1pm. Registration required.

A Day in the Life of the Ancients is a family-oriented tour along the accessible Mesa Village Trail to visit an ancient agricultural village and learn about daily life 1,000 years ago. 9:30am. Cost: $10 Kids / $20 Adults.

2026 ColorFest Color Run/Walk 5K @ Yamaguchi Park
Hosted by the non-profit A Safe Place in Pagosa, Inc. (dba Aspen House & Aspen Services), this event is for the entire family. Run, walk, or baby stroller your way through our 5K course. This is an untimed event. You can get your white T-shirt color-coordinated by our volunteers at several color stations. The course is very user-friendly, scenic, and mostly flat so all can complete it. 8am.
