Family-Oriented Festival is held at Chimney Rock's Visitor Center area. Learn about the skills of the ancients from Chimney Rock volunteers. Try yucca pounding, make a clay pot, design a pictograph, weave a textile, grind corn, or throw a spear with an atlatl. Visit with presenters who will share the importance of astronomy and dendrochronology. Native American arts and crafts for sale. 10am-4pm.
Chimney Rock National Monument is day use only. Due to parking limitations at the upper parking lot, customers may occasionally need to wait at the visitor center.
None of the ancient structures are visible from the parking lot.
Special Programs and/or tours may be canceled due to threatening weather. If so, Rain Checks will be available.
There is no water at the site. Bottled water can be purchased at the Gift Shop.
All fees are considered as donations and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Please wear sturdy shoes, sun protection, and proper clothing for high desert elevation with potential weather changes.
Pets (except for service animals) are not permitted on the interpretive trails. Please do not leave pets in your vehicle or tied outside as there is no shade. A shaded, unmonitored, kennel is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Kennel locks are available to borrow from the Visitor Center. Dog owners must provide dog water.
There is limited power and phone service available.
Picnic tables and restrooms are available near the Visitor Center.

This two-hour tour takes visitors along the Mesa Village Trail, the Great House Trail & a panoramic view from atop the Mesa Ridge aimed specifically at interpreting the history and significance of Chimney Rock and the Ancestral Puebloans who inhabited the area more than 1,000 years ago. Tickets: $20, ages 13 & up, $10, 5-12. 8-10:15am.

3rd Annual Pumpkin Auction to Support the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs @ Riff Raff on the Rio
Join us at this year's 3rd Annual Pumpkin Auction to support our community's animal shelter! This is a fun, family-friendly, and free event! On Friday, October 18th from 4- 8 pm, pumpkin art masterpieces created by local professional artists will be displayed throughout Riff Raff on the Rio. You can view, vote, and/or bid on your favorites. When you dine in at Riff Raff, a portion of the proceeds will go to supporting the shelter animals. Costumes are encouraged!
Full Moon Tour @ Chimney Rock National Monument
Beginning about an hour before moonrise, an informative lecture on topics specific to the site followed by Native American flute as the full moon rises. Volunteers light the trail to the mesa top for a full moon program before the twin spires. A speaker tells the story of the people and their likely relationship with the moon, sun, and stars. Check-in 5:15-6pm. Program 6:30pm. $25.
The 2.5 hour guided tour explores local geology and its relationship to the daily lives of the ancestral Puebloans. Hike up to the Chacoan Great House Pueblo. Guests must meet their guide at the Hwy 151 entry gate during check-in. Tickets: $20, ages 13 & up; $10, 5-12. Check-in 7:45-8am. 8-10:30am.
