GGP’s Environmental Film Festival Celebrates Spring
Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership’s 2024 Environmental Film Festival celebrates spring. Each year since 2013, GGP has produced a fun and educational film event for the Pagosa Springs community.
The Tennyson Event Center is the site of this year’s Film Festival, Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20. Proceeds benefit GGP’s year-round vegetable production, demonstration of direct-use geothermal energy, environmental education, and spirit of community service.
Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership is truly a partnership. Local governments, businesses, schools, and numerous volunteers contribute support to the donation-driven nonprofit. The 501(c)3 organization uses donations to drive its operations in Centennial Park, to provide educational experiences for all ages, and to beautify the San Juan River Walk.
The Environmental Film Festival is GGP’s largest fundraiser planned for 2024. All nine 2024 films are from the Colorado Environmental Film Festival Caravan. All are new to Pagosa Springs. All films are thought-provoking and will inspire conversations about our shared ecological responsibilities: our water, our locally grown food supply, and the sustainability of our lifestyles.
GGP invites you to a Premiere Gala on Friday evening, April 19, from 5 to 10 pm. The celebration includes live music by Steve Blechschmidt and a delicious catered dinner by Pagosa’s most popular chefs. Guests will enjoy two feature-length films, both 2024 award winners. “Flyways: The Untold Story of Migratory Shorebirds” and “The Covenant of the Salmon People” will be introduced by knowledgeable locals on Friday evening.
Framed photographs by Pagosa Photography Club will be displayed and for sale. Several photographers have donated their works to benefit GGP. The photographs are an extra visual treat for GGP’s supporters.
Guests to the Premiere Gala will be admitted all day on Saturday, April 20. A cash bar will be available to guests Friday and Saturday. The amazing Ritual Food Truck will offer a variety of casual eats on Saturday.
Guided Great House Walking Tour
Tour takes visitors 1/3 of a mile up the Great Pueblo Trail and makes several stops along the way to enjoy the ancient Puebloan structures built over 1000 years ago. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday mornings. $6-$12. $20 USFS use fee/vehicle activity pass. Recommended for ages 5 & up. Check-in at plaza kiosk 10am. 10:30am-12pm.
